Jordan Neill reflects on the last 2 years

I would like to take this chance to thank everyone at Civil Service for all they have done for me over the last 2 years. Since I first arrived in Belfast (after making the move from Dublin) the club has become so much more than just a cricketing environment for me. It has become a home.

From providing me with accommodation, to surrounding me with a family-like atmosphere, CSNICC has supported me in every possible way. The coaching, mentorship, and countless opportunities to grow both on and off the field have had a profound impact on me. More than that, I’ve gained friendships here that will last a lifetime. I have gained friends who have become brothers.

I’d like to especially thank Stuart Thompson, Andrew Cowden, and Gary Wilson for the vital roles they’ve played in my development at the club so far. Whether it’s been technical guidance, mental support, lifts, or simply being there… each of them has helped shape me as both a cricketer and more importantly a person. A few other mentions, without trying to leave anyone out, would be to my friends / teammates, to Sarah, our lovely scorer, to the Dyer family, who have let me into their home and treated me like a third son. To the Thomas family, who have played a massive role in bringing me into the club as well as helping me sort accommodation for this winter. To everyone mentioned and those who I haven’t included, I am very grateful.

As a fellow seam bowler, I also want to thank Mathew Foster, who is now moving on from the club. Over the past two years I’ve learned so much from watching and playing alongside him, his work ethic, competitive spirit, and team-first mindset have left a lasting impression on both myself and the club. I wish him all the best in the next chapter of his journey.

Looking ahead, I’m fully committed to doing everything I can to help this club succeed. My goal is to contribute to winning Premier League matches, securing a top 6 finish next year, and start building real momentum towards a league title — something I believe this club truly deserves and has the potential to achieve.

Thank you, once again, to everyone at CSNICC. This club has changed my life, and I’ll always be proud to represent it.

We are delighted to have you with us Jordan and very proud of your achievements to date – no doubt there are a lot more to come!

In sport there is nothing quite like being in a club, that sense of belonging to something much bigger than yourself, winning together and supporting each other through the tougher days when it doesn’t quite go your way. We would encourage everyone to get involved in cricket with your local club and if anyone fancies giving cricket a go at Stormont, whether you’re new to the sport or wish to continue your cricketing journey, just get in touch – we would love to hear from you!
