Sunday morning saw our 1XI take on Holywood 1XI in the league. After winning the toss, Holywood chose to bat first.
Opening the bowling was J. Gillan (1-29) who claimed the important wicket of South African International K. Meso in the first over with a good catch from debutant V. Minford. At the other end E.Carville (0-39) returned and bowled well limiting the batters in her opening overs.
A change of bowling by CSNI with the introduction of L. Mcnaught and E. Wilson, brought to an end a 58 run partnership with a caught behind by R. Thomas and a clean bowled. They finished off their spells with figures of 1-27 and 1-22 off their four overs. This brought L. Maritz to the crease who put on a quick 48* to leave Holywood 150-3 off their 19 overs, reduced by 1 over due to rain.
R. Thomas and E. Wilson opened the batting and despite both hitting early boundaries they were both bowled within the opening two overs. At 4 wickets down in the 4th over J. Gillan came in to bat and put on 35 despite having many partners at the other end. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough for the CSNI side who were all out in the 18th over leaving Holywood winners by 16 runs.
