Womens Challenge Cup
CSNI were put into bat first vs a strong Holywood side in the latest Challenge Cup group stage away to Holywood CC, on a scorcher of a Sunday morning.
R.Thomas (26) and E.Wilson opened the batting. After two early wickets J.Gillan (27) came in to put on a 52 run partnership with R.Thomas before being dismissed by the fast hands of Holywood’s new keeper K.Meso. The team batted well and despite few boundaries due to the long out field ended on a good score of 120-8 off their 20 overs.
CSNI bowled extremely well knowing they had two key wickets that needed to be taken. J. Gillan and E. Calvert bowled well together getting figures of 0-28 and 1-7 respectively. CSNI continued with L. McNaught and E. Wilson who bowled very tightly to restrict Holywood’s total and picking up a wicket a piece.
Pick of the bowlers was E. Kennedy with 1-14 off her 4 overs, picking up the wicket of L. Maritz, former Irish International. For her first X1 debut this was an incredible achievement.
Next up for the team is Holywood again next Sunday at home.
