CSNI 3rd XI v Templepatrick 2nd XI

POTM – Chris Elliott (36 runs: 5x4s & 1×6)

On a very hot Saturday, CSNI 3XI took on a strong Templepatrick 2XI at newly adopted 3rd ground, Sullivan Upper. Losing the toss, CSNI were asked to field first, in the hot and dry conditions!

Opening the bowling for CSNI was H.Kokate (0-25) and RG.Copeland, who between them bowled a very tight first 6 overs up front, with the TCC batters taking time to find their feet. First change in the bowling saw C.Elliott (2-49) take the ball, and make an instant impact claiming 2 wickets. Both caught respectively by G.Lutton and J.Fisher. After that the TCC batters put together some strong partnerships, taking a liking to the CSNI bowlers, with S.Fawcett appearing to be batting on a different wicket. He made 82 before the return of Ross Copeland (1-47) to the attack broke the partnership with a good catch by D.Sproule. TCC finished on 267-4 in their allotted 35 overs.

CSNI opened the batting with P.Lutton (4) and H.Kokate (0) who struggled early with the swinging new ball. This seemed to be the trend of the the first few overs, with CSNI losing both openers and their number 3, D.Sproule (1) early. RJ.Copeland (22) and C.Elliott (36) went about rebuilding the innings, both taking their chances to hit the bad balls to the rope. After the rebuild, the batting collapse continued at one end seeing G.Lutton (5), L.Fisher (1), V.Gorka (0) and J.Fisher (5) all depart. Veteran T.Dalzell became the mainstay of the innings scoring 33 from 36, before being caught to leave RG.Copeland the last man standing.

Unfortunately not to be on this occasion for CSNI losing out to TCC 2XI by 138 runs
