NCU Junior Cup
On Saturday CSNI 2XI welcomed Lisburn to Stormont for the First Round of the NCU Junior Cup, two strong sides who probably deserved to meet at a later stage in the competition.
Lisburn won the toss and decided to bat on a sunny Saturday at Stormont. The relatively young CSNI bowling attack performed admirably against a strong Lisburn team with a number of ex Premier League players in their ranks including an ex International.
Matthew Kennedy pick of the bunch with 3-29, and also Ben Adair very economical with 1-14 from his 8 overs. Lisburn finished with a modest total of 152, being bowled out in the last over.
The CSNI innings started off slowly and in truth never took off, with wickets falling at regular intervals. Jordan Wilson however struck the ball very cleanly for 36 including a couple of big blows for 6. CSNI just ran out of gas with an admirable effort from bowlers Ollie Dyer and Luka Bates towards the end with the bat.
Good luck to Lisburn with the rest of the competition, they were deserved winners on the day with experience telling throughout.
